Anchorage Marina – what is happening in October

Posted by on Oct 7, 2014 in Atlantic Beach Blog, New Bern Blog, Oriental Blog | 0 comments

The Seafood Festival was the first weekend in October and was a wonderful time. The weather has been spectacular as has the fishing. Spanish Mackerel are biting on the beach and Albacore are showing up all around Cape Lookout. Spots and Croakers are around the Port Terminal. Fall fishing is wide open and the weather is still warm enough for cruising the Crystal Coast with your family.

The Cape Lookout Series King Mackerel Tournament is scheduled the last week end of October and should be at the height of the King bite.

Labor Day Weekend – 2014 at the Anchorage Marina – lookin good!

Labor Day is shaping up to be a great week end. The weather looks great with a low chance of rain and light winds. The fishing has been good inshore with one boat reporting catching and releasing 92 Drum earlier this week. The Cape Lookout Shootout Series King Mackerel Tournament is Saturday with the 50 boats fishing hard for first place. This is a great series since it is limited to 50 boats and the prize money is already set. King Mackerel Tournament season will be in full swing this Fall and we will keep everyone up to date as best we can.

Watch for closer Downtown Waterfront cameras…

Downtown New Bern has a great advocate in the Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation!  They are happy to place a link from their site to the New Bern camera and had several great suggestions on camera locations in the middle of the waterfront.  Keep watching for new cameras which will place you right in the middle of the downtown waterfront action.  If you want to promote the Downtown, call Danielle at Swiss Bear.

Whether I’m off for the day sound fishing or stocking up for a trip across the stream, this is the place to start.  If you are serious about fishing the NC coast you can’t find a better base.  The people there are great.

The Bean brings you the Harbor

The Oriental Harbor view from the porch of  The Bean may be one of the most action packed views in town.  Check back to see boats of every shape, size and heritage.  From local trawlers to world wanderers – and don’t miss the Snow Bird migration of yachts who often stop in Oriental going and coming.

A “Thank You” to WCTI-TV channel 12 in New Bern

Look for videos of the Neuse River and New Bern waterfront on the ABC channel in New Bern.  Scott Nichols, the news director, is excited to bring viewers full video views from here as a feature of the news and weather coverage.  Even when you are away, see how the weather is doing from across the river.  Keep those relatives “out west” informed on what it looks like here during a Nor-easter or one of our famous inland hurricanes.
